ARTIST BIO
Michael Smither was born in New Plymouth and studied art in Auckland at the Elam School of Art.
One of New Zealand’s most sought-after senior painters and known for his iconic representations of his life and environment, he has held many prestigious one-man shows in New Zealand and Australia, and was Frances Hodgkins Fellow at Otago University in 1970.
Michael Smither is well known for his environmental work, his sculpture and murals, his silk screenprints and for his music as well as for his painting.
He now lives and works on Coromandel Peninsula.

ARTIST BIO
An accomplished photographer, Gian studied zoology and geography at Canterbury University, and was awarded a double degree in Arts and Science. In her work she expresses her scientific analytical eye, then utilizes her 'sense of place' which formed the strength of her geography studies.
Gian creates what she calls 'photomage' works: the placement of photographs selected and positioned to form an expanded statement. She describes these works as an 'expression of the inclusive'.
