Hours:By appointment only. Directions:Sailors Grave Road is off the main highway between Tairua and Whitianga, five minutes drive out of Tairua heading towards Whitianga, just past the Twin Kauri Reserve. Drive to the end of Sailors Grave Road. Walk across the bridge and follow the one lane road up the hill, the studio is approximately 3 minutes walk. About the location:The studio is located in Te Karo Bay, a bush clad valley by a beautiful beach, surrounded by large pohutakawa trees. My studio is on five acres of native bush situated within a kiwi zone. I hear kiwi every night from my studio in calling season. Biography:I have been sculpting stone and wood for 15 years in between raising three children. I have exhibited and sold my work, resulting in commissions. We moved to Tairua three years ago and I have finally built my own studio, even before a house to live in! This will be my first exhibition from my soul space, a place of passion, dreams and acceptance. My sculptures are all about me and how I relate to the community, humanity as a whole, the environment around us and infinity above us… each sculpture captures a thought and the impact of that thought on the world. My current thinking evolves around religion, humanism, feminism, community and survival. The process of creating sculptures gives me a greater understanding of humanity and its role within the universe… I think, therefore I am, captured in matter
