ARTIST BIO
My passion for harakeke is in working with traditional methods to create pieces of contemporary beauty, an expression of mind, spirit and heart.
While experimenting with harakeke, the importance of gaining an understanding and respect for Maori's connection to this plant led me to studying towards a Bachelor of Maori Arts. Through this I began to understand the huge importance of harakeke in history, it's place in our world today and it's enormous potential for the future.
Weaving this natural material has a very soothing and therapeutic effect, and it never ceases to amaze me what can be created out of this remarkable fibre.
