ARTIST BIO
I have enjoyed painting since childhood and majored in Art at Teacher's College and completed a Diploma in Fine Arts at Otago Polytechnic.
Since 1990 I have been the H.O.D. Art at Mercury Bay Area School where I have introduced Photography and Design into the curriculum.
For me art is about the expression of ideas. In my painting I am often trying to convey an emotion through a mixture of realistic and abstract styles and symbolism. I go through phases of being influenced by different artists - anything from historical artists such as Rembrandt through to New Zealand and international contemporary artists.
