47 years young.
I have been carving a wide range of materials for over 20 years now and have come to prefer
working whalebone/teeth,pounamu and marble especially.Always finding new and interesting
things to work on too....amphibolite,dugong bone,warthog tusk!!
I consider myself a contemporary carver of Ngati Pakeha descent, and much of my work
shows the gemini style merging of the two cultures I've grown up between.I love exploring the
'Unfurled Koru' to show how human/energy forms grow together in a harmonic way and often
become woven together in the process.Using organic forms with clean overlaps and highly
finished surfaces ,show the perfection possible when we evolve together.
I sell my work through 'The Bone Studio, my website(carving.co.nz) and in galleries
throughout Aotearoa, as well as attending symposia and retreats when
possible.Commissions a specialty!
I'm also a recently independant Father and a poet and musician frequenting /facilitating
Music Club at The Egg.
