I was born in Kaikoura, into a farming family, moving to the North Island in the 1960 s to attend Hamilton Teachers Training College, after attending Nelson Girls College.
As a teacher I found the childrens art work really impressive and delightful. It inspired a notion, to one day take up painting.
In 1991 I began 6 years of water colour classes with Beth Dawson, in Devonport, where I lived for 13 years, later exhibiting my work at Art by The Sea, The Mairangi Art Centre and at The Pumphouse, Takakpuna.
More recently I have had work exhibited at Colenso Cafe.
I prefer to paint in acrylic and enjoy using a pallette knife at times, giving an abstract nature to some of my work.
I am now planning to spend more time in Hahei, where I have enjoyed holidaying for the past 16 years.
I love to venture out in all weathers , camera to hand, capturing the beauty of local scenery. I never fail to be in awe of the variation in light, mood and colour. Recently I have produced Photo Art books, a way to share some of the best photographs. The books can be personalised and would make an excellent gift. The entrance to my home will serve as a viewing area for my work, from mid December and 2010 will hopefully see a more practical studio space eventuate on site.
